Frequently asked questions
How much does grooming cost? How long does it take? How often should my dog be groomed?
Great questions! Every dog is different. Check out our booking page for cost and time approximations based on your pet’s size, coat condition and temperament. The first time we meet your pet, we’ll recommend a grooming schedule and provide you with a personalized price.
Here is what we recommend for a happy, clean dog:
Have your dog groomed on a regular schedule. A well-maintained coat is inexpensive to maintain; a poorly-maintained coat is expensive to salvage.
Brush your dog regularly at home. this avoids coat matting and helps keep your dog’s skin healthy. Most Dogs enjoy being brushed, so it’s also great bonding time for you and your pet.
I expect my dog to be anxious at the salon. How do you handle that?
Anxious dogs are our specialty! We do a number of things to ensure that your pet is comfortable during their groom.
We are a kennel-free salon. Your dog will never be put in a kennel. They are free to explore their surroundings so that they feel safe.
We are Fear Free Certified. That means we are specially trained in techniques for reducing anxiety and improving the experience of every human and pet involved in a grooming environment.
Dogs are very intuitive and will pick up any anxiety that humans are feeling. We are calm and reassuring, and most dogs settle down within a few minutes.
I have a puppy. When should it start being groomed?
It’s important to set your puppy up for success at the groomer. you can start helping your puppy get ready right away by:
Brushing your puppy at home
Gently handling their paws so they get used to them being touched and held.
This will help your puppy get used to the process and learn that grooming is a pleasant experience.
Once your puppy has had its second set of vaccinations, they’re ready to meet their groomer. But don’t let that stop you from working on them at home as soon as you get them.
We understand that not every dog is able to be vaccinated. Send us a message and we will offer accommodations.
I have an old and/or infirm dog. Can it still be groomed?
Dogs with arthritis or other conditions that make it uncomfortable to stand need special care and attention. We use strategies that keep the grooming time shorter for these dogs and keep them as comfortable as possible.
