Terms of service
The health and safety of people and pets is always the first priority
To ensure that we give your pet a safe and comfortable experience, we ask that you inform us ahead of time if your pet:
Suffers from any condition that may change how we groom them (e.g. sensitive skin, allergies, discomfort standing).
Has fleas, ticks, or other parasites;
Has nipped or bitten people in the past;
In order to protect the humans and pets at JESSICA’s Dog Grooming, we ask that you do not bring your pet to us if:
They are very aggressive towards people (nervous or anxious dogs are welcome)
She is pregnant or in heat;
They currently have a transmissible viral or bacterial infection such as kennel cough;
They are behind on their vaccination or parasite control schedule.
Dropping off and picking up
You can drop off your pet up to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Please pick up your pet on time. We are a cage-free business, so we can’t start the next appointment until you have picked up your pet.
Pets will only be returned to the person who drops them off unless alternative arrangements are made between the pet owner and the groomer.
Pricing & additional charges
The prices listed on this website and the scheduling pages are the deposits required for booking and represent typical rates for different categories of animals. Different charge may apply depending on the particulars of your pet. Additional charges may apply to :
Animals that do not cooperate with the grooming process;
Animals with particularly time-consuming needs;
Animals with poorly maintained or matted coats;
Animals requiring specialized products or services such as medicated shampoo;
Animals that are not promptly collected after their grooming appointment.
Matted hair policy
Matted coats can cause a variety of skin & health problems. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots and potentially infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further injury. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on mats. The skin underneath is usually raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.
Due to matting, your dog’s hair may need to be shaved extremely short to the skin and may show signs of skin irritations and sores due to matting, wet undercoat and dirty coat. In order to take care of a dog that has not been groomed often enough, and is matted, the required grooming sessions may be long, stressful, or painful.
It is often necessary to remove matted hair by shaving or clipping. There is a strong chance that your pet’s skin will become irritated during the clipping process. We will use a medicated shampoo to help sooth any irritation that may occur. The matted hair rests tightly against the skin – the only way of removing mats is to use a short blade to clip between the skin and mats. Your dog may be nicked and cut because the groomer has to work so closely to the skin to remove the matted coat. We are very careful, but the possibility of injury exists. We are not liable for injuries or damages that occur as a result of dematting.
Cancellations, late arrivals, & no-shows
Cancellations and no-shows are a huge liability for any service business, which is why we request a deposit at the time of booking. If you are unable to honour an upcoming appointment, please reschedule with at least 72 hours notice so that you do not surrender your deposit. If you reschedule with less than 72 hours notice, we reserve the right to keep the deposit if we cannot fill your appointment slot. We do not offer refunds or rescheduling for no-shows.
Arriving more than 20 minutes late for your appointment is treated as a no-show.
Marketing
We occasionally take pictures of the pets to put on social media and for other marketing purposes. If you would prefer that we didn’t showcase your pet, let us know in writing.
Hold harmless agreement
We do everything in our power to ensure the safety of your pet when it is in our care. By booking with us, you agree to hold harmless and indemnify JESSICA’S Dog Grooming and its proprietors, employees, and guests from liability, claims, and damages, including attorneys’ fees, for any illness or injury caused to your pet unless resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct. You further release JESSICA’S Dog Grooming and its associated parties from liabilities, claims, and damages caused by your pet to persons, animals, or property.
We define a pet emergency as any event that causes the animal to be in distress as defined in the Animal Protection Act. In the event of an emergency while your pet is in our care and custody, you hereby authorize JESSICA’S Dog Grooming and its employees and representatives to immediately seek veterinary care for your pet. You understand that all associated costs including transportation, veterinary, medical, and otherwise, will be your responsibility. You will be responsible for reimbursing JESSICA’S Dog Grooming for any such expenses.
